SW499 Imperial guard sapper sword - no scabbard

Description

The sapper always came first in the Napoleonic armies, to clear the way for the other troops. Bearded, with an axe on the shoulder and a leather apron, they were known to be awesome fighters. They were equipped with a very strange sword, which also could be used as a saw. In the guard, the hilt figures an eagle - of course.

The Hungarian type hilt will later evolve, and has still extremely pure curves.

This reference is for the blade alone, without scabbard.

Length 89.5cm, blade 75.5cm, weight 1.6kg

× These swords and sabers are high quality copies. Blades are made of forged and tempered steel. They might not be used for fencing, though.
