SW549 - 1832 Pattern Royal Horse Guards Dress Officer's Sword

Description

The royal horse guard, initially raised as a cuirassier regiment, was one of the most famous figthing units of the british army at the beginning of the 19th cent.

In the height of decadence in British military fashion, the Royal Horse Guards took sword ornamentation to a whole new level with this sword pattern. Like in other dress regulation items at this time, European influences are prevalent throughout its construction from the French pommel and back strap to the Germanic-like guard and well-etched 99cm blade.

Length 114 cm, blade's length 99cm. Last pieces (the grip has only two brass wires, the torsaded one is not present on these).

× These swords and sabers are high quality copies. Blades are made of forged and tempered steel. They might not be used for fencing, though.
